Camp Hina

Traveling can sometimes be difficult for those suffering with Sickle Cell Disease, so the foundation has developed a strategy to give patients and their families a break. An all-expenses-paid getaway to that serves up the perfect retreat! Fun activities like dancing, painting, board games, and cooperative BBQ’s offer creative opportunities to stimulate the body and mind. Music around the fireplace and peaceful hikes provide the perfect setting for tranquility and relaxation. A nurse practitioner will accompany the group in case of an emergency. The event promises to be the start of a rich, exciting tradition for Sickle Cell Disease patients.

Golf Outing and Sickle Cell 5k/10k Run/Walk 2011

Hina Patel Foundation sincerely thanks the 40 golfers and sponsors for making the first golf outing at Sherwood Lake Club held Friday, May 13th a successful and a memorial event.

The 3rd annual Sickle Cell 5k/10k Run/Walk held Saturday, September 17th was a greater turnout then previous years. We had approximately 300 registered for run/walk and over 600 people attending. We are pleased to report that this event registered 30 actual units of blood collected. Fifty donors signed up and registered for the National Bone Marrow Registry. This was a wonderful community event, and we are proud to have enlightened the community about Sickle Cell Disease. Hina Patel Foundation thanks the entire community for support, commitment and investment.

Sickle Cell Awareness Fair & Run/Walk 2010

Hina Patel Foundation appreciates and thanks you for your contribution to the second annual “Sickle Cell Awareness Fair” held Saturday, September 18th. A total of 150 people participated in the Run/Walk and 600 people attended the fair. We are also pleased to report that this event registered 33 blood donors, 24 were first time donors, which resulted in 25 units of blood collected. In addition, 67 donors signed up and registered for the National Bone Marrow Registry. This was a wonderful community event and we are proud to have educated the community about Sickle Cell Disease and provide support group information to families and friends who are affected by this disease.

Rabobank Heat Stroke Golf Tournament 2010

Rabobank hosted an inaugural Rabobank Heat Stroke Golf Tournament held Monday, August 23, 2010 at the Seven Oaks Country Club in memory of Hina to benefit Hina Patel Foundation for Sickle Cell Disease. In addition to the $5,000 that was sponsored by Rabobank, this event had an on-site auction which raised $5,125. The Hina Patel Foundation greatly appreciates the support of Rabobank and guest for their kindness and generosity.

Sickle Cell Awareness Fair 2008

The first annual Sickle Cell Awareness Fair held on Saturday, April 19th took place as part of Hina’s Girls Scout Gold Award. Hina took the initiative to create a support group for victims in the community, and held an Awareness Fair to educate others about the disease and what can be done to help. The event was a huge success with approximately 300 people in attendance. We are pleased to report that this event had registered 42 blood donors, of which 23 were first time donors, and collected 30 actual units of blood. In addition, 34 donors signed up and registered for the National Bone Marrow Registry. We want thank you for partnering with us in support of this community service project.
